The Rockmart Lady Jackets basketball team got a chance to get on the court on Tuesday evening ahead of a rescheduled start to the season against Bremen, but they have a lot to figure out before they face Chattooga after a hard loss at home.
The Lady Jackets fell in a 67-42 matchup against Bremen at The Rock in the opener, with Analee Morris dropping 22 points on the night for the Lady Jackets as the team’s highest scorer.
Bremen’s Ja’Naya Ware, Mary House and Alli Augustin all put up big numbers for the Lady Blue Devils in the scrimmage game, going for more than 15, 14, and 23 respectively.
Neither team picked up a win or loss on the actual schedule in this one, which was a good thing for the Lady Jackets as Head Coach Andre Clark said the first thing Rockmart has to do is work on defense.
“Defensively is where we’ve got to hang our hat,” he said. “I think we need to work on that and get that fix, and we’ll be all right. We’ve got a lot of girls that can help, we’ve just got to hone in on that defense and let it be our identity.”
The Lady Jackets open their season in a rescheduled game against Chattooga. Rockmart had a wrestling match for the home game at the same time later in the season in January, and both teams agreed to move the game up to this Saturday, November 20 to open their years.
The Rockmart girls will open at 3 p.m. followed by the boys immediately after that is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
