Congratulations go out to one local youth who knew the correct spelling for a type of vinegar that is tasty in a salad dressing and in other foods from around the world.
Anu Ajayi, a seventh-grader from East Paulding Middle School, took the top spot in this year’s spelling bee after an epic 20-round match against other students from across the district.
Ajayi successfully won after spelling the word “balsamic” correctly to finish the competition that was held at East Paulding High School.
She and runner-up Kingston Dempsey, a sixth grader Ritch Middle School, advance to the regional competition online being held on February 26.
Third place alternate Sarah Broadstreet will also join. She placed in the competition after winning at Austin Middle School.
